Initial verification is carried out on a new installation before it is put into service.
The purpose of an initial verification is to confirm, by way of inspection and testing, during construction and on completion, that the installation complies with the design and construction aspects of the latest BS 7671 IET Wiring Regulations.
After an initial verification has taken place an electrical installation certificate (EIC) is completed and issued to all the relevant parties.
